You never asked me to be king
Build my tower up to the sky
So why do I try
You never asked me to be rich
Buy the things that gold can buy
So why do I try
All you ever wanted was my heart, my simple heartTo You that’s all that really mattersWhy do I feel I have to reachBelieve I have to riseWhen You never said I had to climbThese broken ladders
You never asked me to be complete
By myself, find all I need
So why do I try
You never asked me to stand alone
Face the struggles on my own
So why do I try
All you ever wanted was my heart, my simple heart
To You that’s all that really matters
Why do I feel I have to reach
Believe I have to rise
When You never said I had to climb
These broken ladders
‘Cause all they do is take My eyes off of YouMake me forget the TruthAll You ever wanted was my heart, my simple heartTo You that’s all that really mattersWhy do I feel I have to reachBelieve I have to riseWhen You never said I had to climbYou never said I had to climbThese broken ladders
Lyrics for Broken Ladders by Selah
Funny, isn’t it, how we “try” so hard in this life. We make life so much harder than it needs to be when all God wants is our heart, our simple heart. We find it so difficult to allow God to have our heart. We fight the very One who has given us everything we have, including our eternal life, and we choke when He asks for our heart –our life, when He’s already its keeper.
Maybe, just maybe, if our own way of life isn’t working out so well, we should reconsider and heed to God’s program –which is proven and flawless every time…it’s just a thought.
Have a blessed God-centered, Christ-focused day. Choose Him.
In Christ I am SHE {Saved. Hopeful. Empowered.}
