Thanks to YOU!

Tonight I received a notice from WordPress proclaiming a congratulations over 50+ WordPress followers…a grand total 51.

I sit here just in goosebumps over God’s goodness. Not because I am something special, that I write grand blogs, or even deserve the Lord’s blessings in blogging, but I do rejoice in His leading, His direction, His words, and His blessing tonight! Thank you LORD!

Thank YOU!! To all those who read, follow and comment on In Christ I am SHE. The Lord has used you in my life to fill my soul with blessings –more than you will ever know. Though we have never met, you bless my soul! Thank you friends!!

I think of the little tricycle that sits in our garage. Oh how those little ones peddle and peddle and peddle their little legs off and usually don’t go very fast –but oh how they love every minute of it. It is fun. As a parent you hear, “Watch me Mom” and you smile then cheer them on to do it again. It is a challenge. It is a new adventure.

I too, image myself on that tricycle called life, called blogging, called mothering, called wife, called a daughter of the King.

  • May I never forget that my Daddy (Abba Father) is watching me.
  • His cheers are for me.
  • His goals are for my best good and to never stop pedaling forward for Christ. Reaching new levels of challenges and God-adventures are just that…God adventures!
  • And because God has a sense of humor –may I never forget to have fun, laugh, enjoy, and work hard to reach my final destination…glory. One peddle at a time.

The same is true for you, my friends. One peddle at a time.

Keep the faith…

Keep blogging for Christ!

the Blame game

All to often we blame.

  • We blame others.
  • We blame God.

All to less we blame ourselves for it is easier to pass the accountability upon another thus freeing us of any responsibility.

  • It is time to look in the mirror and come clean with God, self, and others.
  • Let today be that day.
  • God is longing for you!

James 1:23 “For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:

Matthew 7:3-5 “And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye. Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.

Do hurts happen?

Are there real hurts that occur? Sadly yes, even within the church walls, which should never be.

  • The reality check of it all is this, we live in a fallen world and fallen people sin.
  • There is another reality check, this never gives us an excuse to disobey God and His Word, to blame others or situations, or blame God. We are responsible before God. We will be held accountable.
  • People do things –in Christ we are capable of wonderful, loving, kind, selfless acts, but without Him we are capable of selfish, horrible wrong doings that scar and hurt others. That’s why we need God –God first above all else. He is the answer!
  • God didn’t do those things to you, people did. For that I am so, so sorry you have gone through those things, but there is a soul-vital reality we all must keep true; we must perserve a keen prespective of who people are and who God is. God is not man. He is continually unchanging in who He is, therefore steadfast, secure, and always abounding in love and mercy –and yes, is just. God is God, thus we do well to see Him as such and not put Him into our manmade box.
  • God is love. God is kind, compassionate, full of mercy and forgiveness; He is holy and pure. God loves you, don’t ever forget that. God has never given up on you –don’t give up on Him!

So stop the blame game. Get things right between you and God. Get things right between you and that person and thrive in Christ! You will never regret it!

Isaiah 43 | a must read

When You’re Between a Rock and a Hard Place

1-4 But now, God’s Message,
the God who made you in the first place, Jacob,
the One who got you started, Israel:
“Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you.
I’ve called your name. You’re mine.
When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you.
When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down.
When you’re between a rock and a hard place,
it won’t be a dead end—
Because I am God, your personal God,
The Holy of Israel, your Savior.
I paid a huge price for you:
all of Egypt, with rich Cush and Seba thrown in!
That’s how much you mean to me!
That’s how much I love you!
I’d sell off the whole world to get you back,
trade the creation just for you.

5-7 “So don’t be afraid: I’m with you.
I’ll round up all your scattered children,
pull them in from east and west.
I’ll send orders north and south:
‘Send them back.
Return my sons from distant lands,
my daughters from faraway places.
I want them back, every last one who bears my name,
every man, woman, and child
Whom I created for my glory,
yes, personally formed and made each one.’”

8-13 Get the blind and deaf out here and ready—
the blind (though there’s nothing wrong with their eyes)
and the deaf (though there’s nothing wrong with their ears).
Then get the other nations out here and ready.
Let’s see what they have to say about this,
how they account for what’s happened.
Let them present their expert witnesses
and make their case;
let them try to convince us what they say is true.
“But you are my witnesses.” God’s Decree.
“You’re my handpicked servant
So that you’ll come to know and trust me,
understand both that I am and who I am.
Previous to me there was no such thing as a god,
nor will there be after me.
I, yes I, am God.
I’m the only Savior there is.
I spoke, I saved, I told you what existed
long before these upstart gods appeared on the scene.
And you know it, you’re my witnesses,
you’re the evidence.” God’s Decree.
“Yes, I am God.
I’ve always been God
and I always will be God.
No one can take anything from me.
I make; who can unmake it?”

You Didn’t Even Do the Minimum

14-15 God, your Redeemer,
The Holy of Israel, says:
“Just for you, I will march on Babylon.
I’ll turn the tables on the Babylonians.
Instead of whooping it up,
they’ll be wailing.
I am God, your Holy One,
Creator of Israel, your King.”

16-21 This is what God says,
the God who builds a road right through the ocean,
who carves a path through pounding waves,
The God who summons horses and chariots and armies—
they lie down and then can’t get up;
they’re snuffed out like so many candles:
“Forget about what’s happened;
don’t keep going over old history.
Be alert, be present. I’m about to do something brand-new.
It’s bursting out! Don’t you see it?
There it is! I’m making a road through the desert,
rivers in the badlands.
Wild animals will say ‘Thank you!’
—the coyotes and the buzzards—
Because I provided water in the desert,
rivers through the sun-baked earth,
Drinking water for the people I chose,
the people I made especially for myself,
a people custom-made to praise me.

22-24 “But you didn’t pay a bit of attention to me, Jacob.
You so quickly tired of me, Israel.
You wouldn’t even bring sheep for offerings in worship.
You couldn’t be bothered with sacrifices.
It wasn’t that I asked that much from you.
I didn’t expect expensive presents.
But you didn’t even do the minimum—
so stingy with me, so closefisted.
Yet you haven’t been stingy with your sins.
You’ve been plenty generous with them—and I’m fed up.

25 “But I, yes I, am the one
who takes care of your sins—that’s what I do.
I don’t keep a list of your sins.

26-28 “So, make your case against me. Let’s have this out.
Make your arguments. Prove you’re in the right.
Your original ancestor started the sinning,
and everyone since has joined in.
That’s why I had to disqualify the Temple leaders,
repudiate Jacob and discredit Israel.”

Is ‘More’ Faith the Answer?

The Parable of the Mustard Seed is one of the shorter parables of Jesus. It appears in Matthew (13:31–32), Mark (4:30–32), and Luke (13:18–19).

In the accounts recounted in both Matthew and Luke, the disciples long for more faith. ‘Then‘ they could do great things for God. ‘Then‘ they could cast out demons. ‘Then’ they could forgive a brother or sister who’s especially annoying.

Jesus tells them they don’t need great faith; they need just a little faith. He clearly speaks of a small amount of faith and compares it to the mustard seed which was the smallest seed known in his day.

  • We’re prone to think if we just had more faith, ‘then’ God could do amazing things through us.
  • But Jesus tells us something quite astonishing. The issue isn’t whether we are full of faith but whether we have any faith.
  • If we have the smallest amount of faith, God works on our behalf. Jesus stops his disciples short and asks them: Do you believe in me at all? Do you trust God at all?

Why is Jesus’s answer encouraging? Because we don’t get caught in the morass of thinking about whether we have enough faith. When facing a given situation, we call out to God to give us faith—no matter how small.

A small amount of faith is sufficient because the focus is not on our faith but its object.

Why is it true that mustard seed faith can move mountains and uproot mulberry trees? Jesus plainly tells us. It isn’t because of the quantity of our faith but the object of our faith.

If our faith is in God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, then it has a great effect.

Our faith makes a difference not because it is so great but because God is so great, because He is the sovereign one who rules over all things. Our faith doesn’t thrive when we think about how much faith we have; it springs up when we behold our God—when we see Jesus as the One crucified and risen for us.

Still, we have questions about this verse? Does our mustard seed faith move mountains and uproot mulberry trees? Do we see this happen today? Are prosperity preachers right in saying that if we had more faith, we wouldn’t get sick and would enjoy the riches of this world?

  • It’s critical to note Jesus is using an illustration. He’s not literally talking about moving mountains and uprooting trees. There’s no example in Scripture of mountains disappearing because someone had faith.
  • Jesus is teaching that stunning things happen if we have faith. The question is, what kind of stunning things should we expect?

Here we must take into account the entire Bible. The old saying is correct: a verse without a context is a pretext. We can’t just pluck any verse in the Bible and apply to our lives without considering how it relates to the sweep of Scripture as a whole.

The Cost of Freedom | America

I am struck by this photo. As I sit in my home, I am warm, safe, secure and living in freedom. I never want to forget two things:

  1. Who it comes from and
  2. Who sacrificed to keep it.

Yes, I am an American, but only an American because God placed me here by birth. My ancestry comes from other countries and through their journeys settled in America. I am proud to be an American, but it is God who made me an American; I had nothing to do in that process.

Our country has been through wars, loss, sorrow, great turmoils, joys and great victories but one thing that has stood these tests is its people. Specifically, I think of its soldiers: those who have fought, died and today are veterans in this land we call America.

  • They have given sacrifically (from their own life and family for fellow mankind…like me, like you!).
  • They have protected our own land as well as the lands of other nations.
  • They have in the past and continue to stand in the gap to keep our America free, safe, and independent for the next generations to come.

Oh, we can easily find fault in America. We could blame and even grow righteously angry over leadership, bills passed or not passed, choices our country as allowed or stopped; to stop there would only produce a complainer.

Did you know?

To complain is to choose to express an opinion or dislike about something and do nothing about it.

To sit idly by is to live in foolishness. We must do our part!

Above all, a nation whose God is its Lord —that nation is blessed (Psalm 33:12).

So, lest we forget:

  • God first –country second and may we see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living (Psalm 27:13) for keeping God in His rightful place…first.
  • Freedom is never free –remember that next time you complain about your country. Unless we are willing to be proactive, take a proactive stands, our lips should be sealed.

Thank you, soldiers! You are in our thanks, thoughts and prayers! Thank you, Lord, for this great country –may we be found faithful! We have much to be thankful for!

YOU have not desired nor required, but I saith | Psalm 40:6-8

“Sacrifice and meal offering you have not desired; my ears you have opened; burnt offering and sin offering you have not required” Ps 40:6.

“You have not desired – You have not required”

but I live out my life – my spiritual life; this new creatured life in Christ – as though You have said.

Is it the same with you?

  • Why do I SAY when YOU haven’t spoken?
  • Why do I DO when YOU haven’t commanded?
  • Why do I LIVE where YOU haven’t required?

  • God has spoken.
  • God has commanded.
  • God requires.

Let’s desire “thus saith the LORD” not “saith I” – we just might find out God’s program is far better than our own.

“Then I said, “Behold I come; in the scroll of the book it is written of me. I delight to do Your will, O my God; your law is within my heart” Psalm 40:7-8.

for you, Mom

As a mother, there are days where I feel unable; unable to focus, shepherd, guide, counsel, help, correct, love, and discipline our sweeties. There are days where I am just plain spent, but that is exactly when I need that reminder that is isn’t about me, what I know, or what I can do…it is about Christ!

It is about being transformed into His likeness. I can because of Christ in me…and that is power, that is able, that is strength to do and be who I need to be before and to those around me…which include our little ones.

So Mom, you can. You are God-equipped already, the question is are we relying on the Giver of that equipment?

You are able because He is able, but we have a decision to make (a decision that may require an hourly reliance), but a choice: do I choose my super power or God’s super power.

We know, choosing God’s program makes all the difference in this world –all the difference in us, all the difference in our children, all the difference in our homes, community, church, marriage, and relationships. Yet so often we choose ourselves.

So Mom’s,

  • Let’s stand guard to protect our time with God for this is where fruit begins, where strength is granted, where ability to do and be is established, where the greatest eternal values are planted.
  • Let’s purposefully spend time with our Savior, accept and rely on Him with every fiber of our being, allow Him to show Himself mighty to us so that we may put on His attributes being transformed from within –then used for His glory amongst those around us.
  • You can because He can, but we must be willing, seeking, and relying on Him alone for that power, that enablement.
  • Today, rely on Him, Mom! You will not be disappointed. You have a SUPER GOD!!!
  • Greater is HE that is in YOU (1John 4:4).

From a mother to a mother, I pray that you have a blessed Christ-filled, God-centered day…and enjoy your kiddo’s! They are truly a blessing from the Lord Himself!

Conviction of ‘Talk’

I have been convinced. The Holy Spirit, through the preaching of God’s Word this morning in church confronted my soul about something.

That something is this –we talk a lot. We talk about this, that and everything in between. We aren’t shy to express our favorite things or those ‘things’ we’d like to do. We talk about our favorite sports team, politics, that recipe we gotta try. We blog. We talked about relationships, love, what we like, what we dislike and even what we struggle with. But do we talk about Christ as much as we talk about everything else? Does Christ easily flow off our lips as much as everything else? Are we as intense about Christ as we are about that next movie we want to see or DIY project?

Are those ‘things’ bad? Many or most aren’t. So way the conviction? When I stop and consider how much I “talk” and compare it to Christ –I am shamefully falling short in sharing my faith, sharing Christ, and being a mouthpiece in proclaiming Christ –and His free gift of salvation. When I stop to consider, the scope of eternity becomes more valuable than my here and now talk.

Now do you understand my conviction?!
So below you will see an entry called “Eternity” which comes right off my blog. I am simply obeying. May God’s Word change you too!

Colleen Woodruff

In Christ I am SHE {Saved. Hopeful. Empowered.}

The reality is real, we will all face death at some point in our life. The question is, are we ready for that appointed day?

Eternity is real. Just as you live and breathe right now, your eternal state has an eternal forever. The destination is the question.

Whether it is something you think about or something you have rejected, the reality is sure — your eternity is coming. Do you know where you will spend your eternity?

This is thee most important question you could ever ask yourself. According to 2 Corinthians 6:2 it reads, “for He says, “At the acceptable time I listened to you, and on the day of salvation I helped you. Behold, now is “the acceptable time,” behold, now is “the day of salvation.”

We know not the hour nor the day when our finally breathe will be. We do not know if we have tomorrow, we only know that we had yesterday. TODAY is the day of your salvation. Putting it off could mean the difference between hell and heaven.

Sometimes people say, “If God is so loving, why would He allow bad things to happen to good people?” May ask you this question, “Why blame God for all the bad things that happen? If God doesn’t existent and eternity is just a fairy tale, why blame Him?”

Sin entered into the world through one man, Adam, and through Adam all have sinned. But God didn’t leave it there.

You see, love has one source and its author is God. God’s love is repeated over and over and over and over again throughout the pages of Scripture, the Bible — God’s love letter to mankind. The ultimate demonstration of love is when God sent His only Son, Jesus, to earth. There are millions of ways God could have chosen to saved the world, but God didn’t choose the easy way out…He choose a cross.

Jesus Christ came to earth, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life while being 100% man/100% God, ministered for about three years on earth — healing physical and spiritual needs, ministering to the hearts of mankind, then was betrayed. Being guiltless, just, holy, righteous in all manners was falsely convicted then crucified on a cross.

His death on the Cross wasn’t without purpose. On that cross He took the FULL payment for your sin, my sin, and for everyone the was, is, and that would be in the future —all of mankind. He bore the rejection of His holy Father as He turned away, for He couldn’t look upon His Son, due to our sin. But Jesus Christ did not stay on the cross. No, three days later He rose again from the dead. Yes, He was dead then rose again and now lives in Heaven with His Father preparing a mansion for each and every one who believes on Him.

Satan hasn’t nor will ever do anything like this — satan has NEVER done anything selfless in his existence. In fact he is seeking whom he may destroy or devour (to chew up and spit out). There are no recordings that even remotely stated that satan gives of himself for mankind…no where! 1 Peter 5:8 “Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” Satan has never been your friend…NEVER!

So let’s take an extremely short travel through the Bible as we look and see how God does indeed love you and you can know where you will spend eternity today!

  • The Bible says, we all fall short of God’s glory. (Romans 3:23) How? Why, you ask? Because we are sinners. Now before you turn away, think about it. Have you ever told a lie? What does that make you? Be honest! (a liar) Have you ever stolen something? What does that make you? (a thief) Have you ever disobeyed your parents, lusted after something that wasn’t yours? Get my point? We ALL fall short of God’s glory! He is holy — we are sinful! Romans 3:10 says it plain and clearly. “…There is none righteous, not even one.”
  • But remember that love —that GOD LOVE? Oh there is HOPE because of Jesus Christ! There is only ONE that has provided the way and His name is JESUS CHRIST! John 3:16 states, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes on Him, should not perish but have everlasting life.”
  • “If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” (Romans 10:9) “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (Romans 10:10) In the book of Acts is says, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved” (16:31).

My friend, there are hundreds of verses we could read together that prove that Christ did indeed die on the cross for YOU and paid your debt (sin). For your sins He died! Through the precious blood of Jesus Christ and the LOVE of the Father there has been made a way or redemption for you, but YOU have to do something first.

It is like this. If I went to a very expensive store and bought you a very expensive gift. I had that gift specially wrapped just for you, made a special time and place to meet you, and once we were together I excitedly gave you that awesome gift…you’d be placed with a decision to make. We usually don’t think about it because we like receiving gifts, but you do have two options: 1) You could reject my gift to you. Yes, you could make the decision to reject the gift I was handing to you. You could say you didn’t want it for whatever reasons you had. Or 2) you could reach out and take my gift. You would then unwrap it and see what I had given you. THIS TOO IS LIKE GOD’S FREE GIFT OF SALVATION — YOU HAVE A DECISION TO MAKE. 1) REJECT IT 2) ACCEPT IT. IT IS REALLY THAT SIMPLE. We make is harder then it really is.

So, what will your decision be? I wouldn’t wait —for you never know when your last breath will be. Today is the day of salvation! You are free to choose. You could reject God’s free gift of salvation, but I would be uncaring of your soul to tell you that your rejection of God would both grieve the heart of God, and send your eternal destination to the lake of fire (“into the outer darkness; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth” Matthew 25:30) but this doesn’t have to be!!!!!

Would you ACCEPT God’s gift of salvation?!!!!

  • How? Confess with your mouth (pray), acknowledge to God that you are a sinner, that your sin is separating you from Him. Ask God to forgive you of your sins and to cleanse your heart (to create in you a clean heart). Put your whole faith and trust in God for your eternal life. He will save you. Go online and look up “the Bridge” it is a small booklet that will show you more from God’s Word on how you may know where you will spend eternity.
  • Your eternity is worth it!

Praying for you, friend!

If you’d like to talk about Christ or tell me that Jesus is your Saviour, I’d love to hear from you! Send me a message or comment below.

Eternity is forever! You can know your destination.

God loves you!

How’s Your Mustard Seed?

Question: “What does it mean to have mustard seed faith?

Answer: Faith is so vital to the Christian life that Scripture tells us that, without it, it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6). Yet faith is such a powerful gift from God (Ephesians 2:8–9) Christ told His disciples that, with just a tiny measure of it, the size of a mustard seed, they could move mountains. So, what does it mean to have “mustard seed faith”?

We know that this statement about moving mountains and uprooting trees by faith is not to be taken literally. The key to understanding the passages is the nature of faith, which is a gift from God. The power of faith reflects the omnipotent nature of the God who bestows faith on His own. The mustard seed is one of the tiniest seeds found in the Middle East, so the conclusion is that the amount of faith needed to do great things is very small indeed. Just as in the parable of the mustard seed (Matthew 13:31–32), Jesus uses rhetorical hyperbole to make the point that little is much when it comes from God. The mustard seed in the parable grows to be a huge tree, representing the tiny beginnings of Christianity when just a few disciples began to preach and teach the gospel. Eventually, the kingdom grew to huge proportions, encompassing the entire world and spreading over centuries.

So, too, does the tiniest bit of faith, when it is true faith from God, grow to immense proportions in the lives of believers and spreading out to influence all they come into contact with.

One has only to read histories of the great men of the faith, such as Foxe’s Book of Martyrs, to know that superhuman feats were performed by those whose faith was, at one time, only the size of a mustard seed.

Sometimes our faith is tested, it seems, to extremes measures. Measures in which our faith, trust, reliance, obedience to God, even our personhood is stretched in ways it either grow us or we crumble under its weight.

I don’t know what you are facing today. What your week or month has been like. I know for us, it has been just this very challenge. Our weeks, months, have been sincerely consumed with seeking God in much prayer, fasting, numberable tears, and acts of submission before the Almighty God (the best place possible). It has even cost us thousands of dollars because of walking by faith and not by sight. Our minds are trying to catch up with what we have seen, heard, life’s turn of events, and the incredible God-power of prayer.

I still cannot get over the power of prayer we have seen…it is like God made visible right before our eyes.

Honestly, I don’t get the whole picture. I don’t fully understand the turn of events or what God has done and is doing in my own heart and those around me, but I am extremely thankful God is working on me!

This I have seen, even when life’s trials ‘seem’ so hard, so dark, to long, when our flesh and spirit grow utterly exhausted, when silence is what you hear or perhaps that great whisper to a roar, whether your prayerful requests are answered or not, or you are simply besides yourself in turmoil in what to do —God never leaves us nor does He forsake us (Hebrews 13:5 & Deuteronomy 31:6). If we seek first the kingdom of God with a purest human heart possible —God will answer. He shows those who seek Him first (Matthew 6:33), but be warned:

  • God does not follow our time table –we bow to His!
  • God is not to be demanded of –He owes us nothing, but through His love, He choices to answers and guide. Be patient.
  • God hasn’t forsaken us –let us not forsake Him! God is good in the valley as well as the mountaintop.
  • God is in control –not you, it is just that simple.

This leads us to a decision we all must make daily —will I submit to God’s plan or not?

  • May our unleashed faith, our eyes, our soul see the incalculable power of God!
  • I have a mustard seed, and I am not afraid to use it!
  • Keep the faith, friend, keep the faith!
