a Contradicting Christian

  • If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? (1 John 4:20)
  • By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another (John 13:35).
  • If we say we have fellowship with Him yet walk in darkness,a we lie and do not practice the Truth (1 John 1:6).

A born again child of God and unloving* are an oxymoron. (*Unloving doesn’t mean becoming a doormat or not using the word “no.” It is when one chooses to act UN-Christ like to those around them in word and/or deed.)

When you see or experience the two together something is amiss — Christ!

  • As a child of God, Christ is our example.
  • So walk ye in Him! (Ephesians 5:1)

Church on Fire!!!

Jesus said in Matthew 16:18, “…I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

The church is God’s body, not ours, lest we forget. The greatest victory for satan (devil) is a carnal christian, a lukewarm believer–one who lives like the world but calls themselves a “christian.”

  • The devil laughs at us believers when we act or live like the world because we have chosen to live in defeat rather than in victory (he knows it and laughs). In other words, in these cases, the devil “acted like your friend” and turned out to be your worst nightmare. You rejected the Truth (God) that could have set you free!
  • The Lord grieves when we act or live like the world when we are indeed His child. This is not what He died for. Unlike the devil, who is bent on our destruction, the Lord is looking and longing for our return back to Himself–restoration, redemption, relationship.

So, let me ask you a question. One is bent on your ultimate destruction and cares absolutely nothing about you; roars this world looking for whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). The another is bent on restoring a relationship that was broken in time past (Genesis 3) but through sending His only begotten Son, Christ Jesus (John 3:16) (see page “Eternity”: inchristiamshe.com/eternity) has made a way to restore mankind to Himself because His personal love for man is beyond our comprehension. A personal relationship with Christ is possible regardless of who you are, what you have done, or what your social status is. None of that matters to God. All that matters is you!

So church, God is on fire for you. Are you on fire for Him?

  • You are not your own, you have been bought with a price, so therefore glorify God in our body and in your spirit, which are God’s (1 Corinthians 6:20).
  • Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works , and glorify your Father which is in Heaven (Matthew 5:16).

Burn brightly my brothers and sisters in Christ for Him alone as a body of believers. May you be a vessel in the Master’s hands to the praise of His glory.

the Unchangeable Changers

  • May it never be said of us.
  • May we never be named amongst them.
  • May we always changeable before our Lord, for we are to be imitators of Christ (Ephesians 5), putting on, therefore, changeable in Him.
  • May we tell others who do not know Him so that they may become gloriously God-changed.

Is Your Light On?

One of the coolest things I remember is when my husband and I were in Israel sitting at the foothills of the Sea of Galilee one night. While we sat there talking, we couldn’t help but look. We were drawn to the intense blackness of the mountains around us. The intensity of the blackness and what’s “out there” was unreal yet it drew us in. But then something began to happened.

The longer we looked, seemingly out of no we began to see glimmers of light appearing here, then there, then over there…out of nowhere flickers of light.

The ratio (light vs black) there was no comparison. The darkness ruled in quantity, but the light ruled in quality for their shine was more brilliant against that blackness –it made them sparkle and glimmer even more!

It was an most amazing site to behold because just moments before there was complete and utter blackness–you would have never known there were people, homes, life up there on those hilltops.

This memory is embedded in my mind because it draws my heart and soul to think about what Jesus said, “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid” [Matthew 5:14-16].

Truly, Jesus knew what He was talking about and the imagery that He used is powerful purposeful. It is impossible to hide even your small flame in the midst of complete blackness.

We deceive ourselves to think we don’t have “blackness or darkness” around us. The Bible calls it ‘spiritual warfare’ and/or sin.

  • It comes in many ways: the devil’s attacks, the lost world around us that needs Christ as Savior yet chooses to reject Him, it even comes from our own sinful flesh.

  • I cannot help but think – “Is my light on?” Is your light on?

Yes, I am a child of God [thank you, Lord for saving my soul!]; I am a sinner saved by grace; I know where my eternity will be spent despite my human weaknesses and faults. It is of the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed; His love is not determined by my actions or love for Him. His love doesn’t change. He doesn’t love us anymore or anyless. But is my light on for Christ?

I don’t know about you, but I am eternally indebted to Christ. Christ didn’t have to save me on March 9, 1982, but He did! My life is not my own, it belongs to Christ.

Sitting at that mountainside in Israel, seeing those glimmering lights, hearing Jesus’ words in Matthew it causes me to wonder about my heart of gratitude, love, dedication to God, have I spiritually changed (grown) over the years? Has my love increased for God or decreased? Am I like that light or candle set on a hilltop that can be seen for miles that points others to Christ? Or have I grown comfortable in this earthly life and placed God secondary to myself?

What about you friend? Is your light on? Or have you been slowly turning it on the dimmer? Maybe you have already placed your candle stick under a bushel and you have grown lukewarm or even cold like in Revelations? You can turn back to Christ, but it takes repentance on your part. God loves you!

Jesus is clear when He said in Matthew, YOU are the light of the world” may we not let Him down. May we do everything, in His power to please Him and shine where He plants us!

Is your light…

the ‘Conclusion First Jump’ Profits Little

  • Proverbs 18:13 “He who gives an answer before he hears, it is folly and shame to him.”
  • Psalm 119:130 “The unfolding of Your Words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.”
  • Ephesians 1:17-18 “That that God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and a revelation in the knowledge of Him. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,”

The ‘conclusion-first-jump’ yields next to none, but seeking God’s wisdom first always profits ‘out of this world’ results (regardless if you see them now or later)!

Can I Change God’s Love for Me?

God’s love never changes for us. It is our response to God’s love that changes our eternal destination.

“Usable” Hours

I have a few friends that I love dearly that are deeply embedded on my heart to pray for daily who struggle with some sort of chronic pain or illness.

Some, over the years have truly been mind blowing examples of Christ-likeness in the midst of their life long storms; reminding me of Paul, of Christ, reminding me that I have nothing to complain about and a grumbling spirit is never an excuse (Phil. 2:14-16).

I came across this writing (below) and it helped me to understand my sweet friends a bit better (Gal. 6:2), but it also rebuke me in how I need to redeem my time because it is a gift (Eph. 5:16), and I have no excuse in its waste before my Lord!

  • May we grow in putting on Christ-likeness.
  • May we grow in Christ-love for one another and our Savior.
