America & My Soul

“Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you” (Ephesians 4:31-32).

“O Lord, You are truly the One who has made America great and the One who has sustained her. Your Word provides the answers to our need for civility, yet a godless society has neither knowledge of nor care for Your Word. We who know the Truth have been too complacent and too overly concerned with our own pursuits of the American dream. While not all will turn to You, we have drifted from the commitment to do all we can to reach as many as we can.

Lord, we pray for revival in America thinking that the revival is for the other person when in reality it not revival that is needed: it is repentance that is needed. Repentance for our own lack of commitment, for our own carelessness in living out Your Word, for our own hardness of heart that has so easily dismissed the spiritual needs of our fellow countrymen.

We pray that you would bring those who have committed the criminal acts of these last days to justice. We pray you would restore peace and civility. We pray you would forgive our complacency. We pray that you would put a burning passion in our soul for the lost and an effectiveness for reaching them as we passionately pursue You.

In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen!”

It’s Right There…

  • Sometimes we see a pile of shoes, when we should see souls.
  • Sometimes we see the “bother” when we should see the opportunity.
  • Sometimes we see the person in the mirror, when we should see Christ.
  • Sometimes we see the “I don’ts, when the blessings are staring right at us.
  • Sometimes we see the “can’ts, when the cans are plenteous.
  • Sometimes we see bondage, when we are free in Christ.
  • Sometimes God’s knocking at our hearts door brings us irritation, when it should comfort and bring peace.

Sometimes…

Sometimes, if we are not careful, what we “see” becomes skewed, off-focused, self-absorbed, blurred, tainted by our own sinfulness; we are unaware our vision is tainted or changed.

I like to call it our “gridwork” –what we see through our circumstances. When our personal gridwork of life or vision is skewed, our choices follow suit because Christ is not at the helm.

  • Life happens, but Christ is bigger; Christ is purposeful.

When we float through life and refuse to biblically respond, we live through are own “gridwork” and not Christ’s.

Until we fully surrender ourself to Christ, it will not matter if you “see” it or not, if you believe me, your Pastor, your godly friend or not; you, my friend, live in its denial.

We are freed only in Christ (John 8:31-32). It is possible!

Is Your Soul Burning?

COVID-19.

Just that word alone rips through the hearts of people across our globe. People like you and me. Families across our world have seen its effects, our communities shut down, some churches experiencing challenges never thought possible here in America, while others thrive in the midst of turmoil; the list goes on.

I cannot help but think as we “re-open” our lives where or how God fits in.

  • Fear has invaded believers as well as nonbelievers.
  • Questions leave us with where or how life has changed from here on out.

Time will only tell the answers to these questions because actions always speak louder than our words, regardless of who you are or what you believe.

Child of God. Church. Where is your alarm? Is the Spirit of God burning within you so fiercely that is it impossible to not walk in simple obedience to God? Are you burning from within by the fire of God within you?

God hasn’t left us…even in the midst of COVID-19 God has been present. God cannot change; He hasn’t changed. He is God. His love for us is unmoveable, but have you?

Is COVID-19, or anything for that matter, greater than the Greatest One? Time will reveal our heart answer.
