Have you ever limited God?
In our own minds…at least once, I believe we have. It could have been a fleeting moment, a thought turned to action of, “I’ve got one over” on God. Somehow, someway we think we got our own way, but frankly, who of us could say we have “out-witted” God? Who of us could say we limited God’s plan? Who of us could say I’m more brilliant, wise, all knowing than the Almighty God? Most of us would say, “no one!” yet many of us live, thus act, like it in such subtle ways and justify it.
We can claim things like “I’m human” or “we’re on this side of eternity” and I’d agree with you. We certainly are human; we are most definitely on this side of eternity, therefore, affected by our own sinful nature, but I do beg to differ here. Aren’t we putting God in our own-preconceived-God-box? Isn’t God bigger than our boxed version of Himself? Aren’t we to be transformed by the renewing of our minds, therefore, putting on Christ-likeness?
We protect, we run, we lash out, we whine, we find all sorts of methods to convince ourselves that we are right and somehow God has gotten it wrong. That somehow God doesn’t understand; His plan or will is not what we think is best; we convince ourselves, “I’m the only one” by choice which exalts ourself and debases God.
At some point, we wonder why our outcome is what it is, we grow angry and often times blame the very one we rejected in the first place, God.
So, maybe it is time for a biblical mindset that will lead us to a mind change, heart change thus a life change. If your version of life isn’t working out so well, maybe…just maybe God’s purpose for you is better than what you thought or what you think you want!
- Jeremiah 29:11-13 “For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and come to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.”
- Matthew 6:33 ” But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.”
- Jeremiah 33:3 “Call unto Me and I will answer thee, and show the great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”
- Psalm 145:18 “The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him on truth.”
- Philippians 4:19 “And my God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”
- Psalm 119:165 “Those who love Your law have great peace, and nothing causes them to stumble.”
So just maybe…God’s purpose for you is better than you think.
In Christ I am SHE {Saved. Hopeful. Empowered.}
