I don’t know about you, but dates are meaningful to me.
- There are our children’s birth days, my husband, family and friends — both physical and spiritual.
- There is our anniversary, but we also celebrate the 20th of every month.
- There is the death of loved ones both family and friends, and this includes the heavenly home going of our third baby.
- There are dates that mile markers that start journey’s as well as end journey’s.
- I remember the day I got wisdom teeth taken out in my early twenties…Feb. 24, 2002 to be exact. 😊
Sometimes the calendar just needs a break. Dates are attached with joyous occasions, others painful; some are filled with relief, while others are deep hardships. But nevertheless they are your memories. Your rememberances. Your God-given journey we call life.
- Our responses make a difference whether we choose God or self, bitter or better, the mile marker in time, or outcome, even rememberance can be so different.
Today marks another birthday for me. Another year older, yes, but am I another year wiser in Christ? Am I closer to God now than I was last year at this time? Has this past year been lived-out for Christ or self; has He smelled a sweet aroma or have I been a stench in the nostrils of God?
Dates. Birthdays. Memories. Mile markers. Growth. Struggles. All opportunities to evaluate how we are doing in our walk with God, because in the scope of eternity that is what matters most.
Paul said, in Hebrews 12:1-2, “…let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so eadily beset us, and let us run the run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith…”
I long to hear, “…Well done, good and faithful servant…” (Matthew 25:23).
How about you?
In Christ I am SHE {Saved. Hopeful. Empowered.}
