“It” Wears Many Hats

Exhaustion doesn’t even begin to describe how I have felt over the past four weeks; four weeks that turned into five this past Friday.

It began with a slight cough which developed quickly into a full blown, nonstop fit of raging coughs, sleepless nights, fatigue, and left me almost voiceless.

After the first week, I went to see my doctor. This time, I said to myself, “I wouldn’t wait” (similar thing happened in February). Sure enough my lungs and airways were inflamed with infection; irritation deep within and slight fluid in the ear. A shot of steroids was given to me to get me ‘moving along’ quicker this time around. We stopped bye the pharmacy to pick up the mountain of meds and I did what the doctor ordered. I was fully convinced that I would be well very soon…

Week two.

We came to the decision it was time to make another doctor appointment because my symptoms were getting worse, not better.

X-ray’s were order. Round two of medicines started. Doc said, “If you are not any better in two days, I will admit you to the hospital.”

Sleep was been little, the sofa became my home. Breathing more difficult. Side affects increasing.

I purposed to do what must be done, try what I can get done and leave the rest undone because there was no strength nor breathe to do anything else.

Week four done.

Week five has begun.

Third doc visit resulted in more x-rays, round three with a specialist appointment is in the near future. All this to say, last Friday I broke…

  • I broke down in exhaustion, in tears, and in pain, in discouragement.
  • ‘It’ broke me. I didn’t want it too, but…it did.
  • I was so physically worn that I can barely lift my feet off the floor to walk. My body filled with agony, torn muscles from coughing so long, so much and so hard.

I hit that wall and said, “I’m done!”

  • My soul was discouraged.
  • My body was discouraged.
  • My mind was discouraged.

I wept, cried out to the Lord for deliverance, “Lord please, please take this from me!“…”Lord, please I am so weary and worn!

➡ I do not share this for pity.
➡ I do not share this to have a self-pity party.

➡ I do share because maybe someone, maybe you, are in agony, weeping, struggling, worn, tried, exhausted, in pain and right now you need some encouragement…

Maybe “it” is a life situation or decision that must be made; maybe “it” is an illness that has struck your body or someone you love; maybe “it” has you worn to the last bone…I want you to know something, God is still there. He hears. He knows.

My friend, (preaching to myself here) we are so desperately human yet God knows that and loves us anyway. God heard Job’s cries. God saw Job’s pain. God answered Job’s prayers and God sees, knows, and hears us too (Job 41;42).

God takes our frailty, turns it on its head for His glory, gives us precisely what is needed and shows us Himself.

May sound like God is selfish, but He isn’t.
God deserves such grandeur, such attention, such praise, such worship and devotion. He is God. We are not. This doesn’t stop God from loving us.

  • It is enough that He would bring glory to Himself through us, but He also uses that source of glory to Himself for our perfection, for our molding, for our fashioning us into HIS likeness.

In the midst of vallies or while we stand on the mountaintop, God is using “it” to create in us a masterpiece within us…one that is more glorious than we can image. This is not selfish, this is love.

Last Friday was a really hard day — both physically and spiritually, but today, today is a new day with sickness included to become perfected into what God is leading me through at this time.

➡ God is perfecting you. Job saw with his spiritual eyes who God was/is.

➡ Job trusted God to be God; we must trust Him as well.

  • I want to grow in Christ.
  • I want to be healed spiritually and physically.
  • I want to say, “I know that You can do all things, and that no thought or purpose of Yours can be restrained. Therefore [I now see] I have [rashly] uttered that which I did not understand, things too wonderful for me, which I did not know. ‘Hear, please, and I will speak; I will ask You, and You instruct [and answer] me.’ I had heard of You [only] by the hearing of the ear, but now my [spiritual] eye sees You.” Job 42.

God loves you, friend! Remember, today is a new day with “it” included to become perfected into what God is leading, fashioning us to become through this time. Take courage.

This! God Can.

This is where I am at right now…my quiet place.

Well, I am not actually sitting on this porch at the moment, but I did several weeks ago. Our friends let us use their pool and while I was done swimming, the others continued…and this is where I ended up.

We had just come off an incredible week within our church. If I can brag for a moment, we have the best church ever! The Spirit of God was moving in souls, people in one accord serving Christ, salvations declared! Total Jesus high. God has been so good to us and I stand amazed in Him.

You would think though, that after seeing God’s mighty working hand so powerfully I’d be full of spiritual energy, ready to conquer the next mountain, but that is not where I was.

  • I was tired.
  • My body was shutting down for the night and it seemed that I was the only one in are family doing so.
  • Bless his sweet precious heart, my husband, who has energy for the both of us, times 10! My ‘Energizer Bunny’ was well…energized; simply fulfilling, being who God had crafted within him to be, which I love. (Going to brag one more time) He is an amazing man: loves God, passionate for souls, faithful, trustworthy, steadfast, giver, the list goes on…
  • But I wasn’t feeling the energy or the strength; all I felt was deadness! I was lagging behind both physically and spiritually.
  • It wasn’t his fault. He wasn’t the problem; he didn’t do anything wrong — the struggle was me.

That night, I was feeling the pains of tiredness, fatigue, exhaustion yet my Energizer was still going, planning, doing, creating, blossoming, and living life for his Savior…and we weren’t on the same ride.

  • Have you ever felt that way?
  • I had a decision to make that would change my outcome for better or worse.

It matters what we do when the reigns of life squeeze us; when our weaknesses strike, when strength is given…it matters!

That night I went to my quiet place; dove into the Word of God and sat…

…and sat!

It took time for my soul to begin to clear. The external and internal noises were louder than the voice of God — ever been there?

Sitting there, purposefully trying to listen, I heard my Savior say, “My grace is sufficient for you — My love, My mercies are poured over you, Colleen. They are always available regardless of your situation: my strength (power) is being perfected in your weaknesses. Be glad…glory, boast in your weaknesses because the power of Christ in you completely enfolds you. I love you. Now rest!” (2 Corinthians 12:9).

  • God filled my empty soul.
  • God renewed my physical body.
  • God redirected my mind, thoughts, and focus.
  • God gave me rest.

And…He can do the same for you!

You Are Special. God Never Forgets That.

Isn’t it a wonderous, mind-blowing, goosebumping thought that God never forgets how special we are.

  • Trust His Word; trust Him.
  • Stick to the Word.
  • He loves you far greater than you could ever imagine…and He desires to pour that love upon you.

Hope you have a Christ-filled day! Serve and love Him with all your heart, soul, mind and strength today.

Love ya friend!

Happy is the Man

How often do we thank the Lord for His correction or chastening hand in our life?

It be safe to say, not all that often, but it should be.

  • Thank you Lord for not allowing me to continue on that path…
  • Thank you Lord for stopping me from doing…
  • Thank you Lord for preventing me from…
  • Thank you for protecting me…

The list goes on my friends.

The loving, correcting hand of God brings joy not grief in our life.

Maybe, we should spend some time thinking about how God has delivered us, spared us, rescued us, saved us by creating a list of thanks for His inflicting pain that brought His binding relief; for through His wounds, His hands heal us.

Coal, Sand, Worms, God and You!

  • The coal never questions God and look what it becomes.
  • The sand never questions God and look what it becomes.
  • A worm never questions God and look what it becomes.

Let it be said of us…the human never questions God, and look what it becomes.

  • God loves you beyond a piece of coal, sand, and a worm; beyond their transformations.
  • That’s why He sent His Son…for you, because you are worth it. Your transformation is worth it to Him.
  • Don’t sell yourself short…He didn’t with you.
  • God loves you!

Is the Solution to Try Harder or Let Him In? What does God say?

img_20171013_103839_998000-339584810.png

“You have to stop loving and pursuing Christ in order to sin” –there is a fear in writing or saying such words. A fear not in physically writing them or saying them for they are true; rather a fear that a hearer will only listen to their own evoking fears and guilt thus not seeing God’s love for them; therefore, not instilling a fire of love to begin within the them because they love God.

Actions that are driven by fear and guilt are not an antidote to lukewarm, selfish, comfortable living–it is LOVE!

Our relationship with Christ should never be out of duty, obligation, or slavery, but rather craved from a genuine desired love for God. We need only look no further than the cross– where God demonstrated His love for us that while we were YET sinners; Christ died for us (Romans 5:8)! God’s love hasn’t changed.

When we love we are free!

  • Galatians 5:13-14
  • Psalm 63:1-5
  • Loving God and loving people –isn’t that what it is all about?!

Lukewarm living and claiming Christ’s name simultaneously is utterly disgusting to God–when we are honest with ourselves, we have to admit that it isn’t very fulfilling or joyful to us, either, but the solution isn’t to TRY harder, fail, and then make bigger promises, only to fail again.

It does no good to “muster up” more love for God, or to will yourself to love Him more. When loving God becomes obligation, one of many things we have to do, we end up focusing even more on ourselves.

So what do you do? The answer lies in letting God change you! He wants to change you, He died so that we could change!

  • Remember His counsel to the lukewarm church in Laodicea? “HERE I AM! I STAND AT THE DOOR AND KNOCK. IF ANYONE HEARS MY VOICE AND OPENS THE DOOR, I WILL COME IN AND EAT WITH HIM, AND HE WITH ME” (Rev. 3:20).
  • His counsel wasn’t to “try harder,” but RATHER LET HIM IN!!!
  • James 4:8 says, “Come near to God and HE WILL come near to you.”
  • Jesus died on that cross to save us from the bondage of SIN; not just save us from hell.
  • John 10:10 “I (Jesus) have come that you may have LIFE — FULL abundant life!” He was talking about this lifetime.
  • I NEED GOD TO HELP ME LOVE GOD and if I need His help to love Him it would stand to reason I need Him to love others: who are perfectly fault-filled…like you and I.

a Soul Killer

Ahhhh yes, the whole comparing yourself amongst yourselves and not being wise. Oh, how we short circuit ourselves in our lack of faith; how comparing kills the soul.

I love how God knows what He is talking about. All throughout Scripture, time and time again we see the written words of God penned for our good…for our best…because He knows what is best for our soul fueled by intense love for mankind which includes you and I (doesn’t that give you goosebumps!!!!).

If only we trust Him wholly!

Can you imagine how different our lives would be?!

  • Trust His Word — it is Truth!
  • Trust God — for He is trustworthy!
  • Stop comparing yourself with others; they aren’t the standard, God is!

Blessings to you, friends,

Light & Truth: It’s Real!

There are many situations that present themselves in this life that leave us in doubt or wonder, even scared to step forward, but in God’s gracious love, once again, He displays His love through His Word and shows us who He is; Light and Truth; always and forever leaving us knowing His truest intent and plan. There is no darkness, ill will, selfishness, or deceit in God himself, but rather light, truth, life, honest well-intention which is for our best. This also includes those times when we don’t understand His wise and loving plan, but it doesn’t change Him; His way is perfect because He is perfect! Truly, this is of great comfort.

Today, take time to delight in God.

  • Thank Him for being Him, for being the Light that breaks through all darkness and the Truth in the midst of great confusion.
  • Thank Him for His wise instructions to you…and take time to stop. Listen. As a human child we all go through the learning process of obedience, submission, and following instructions, but we forget it doesn’t stop there, it continues our whole life through in God’s eyes! If our obedience, submission, or instruction isn’t from and towards God, it is to and for someone (self included) or something else. We all submit, the question is to who or what? We be wise to evaluate?

God loves you.

  • How much do you love God?
  • Can God see or experience your love, your praise, your thanks, your devotion towards Himself?
  • Does He know how much you love Him?
  • If not, why not child of God?*

the proof: for our human hearts

  • Psalm 18:1 “I will love thee, O LORD, my strength.”
  • Zephaniah 3:17 “The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.”
  • Jeremiah 31:3 “The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.”
  • John 15:9 “As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.”
  • Isaiah 41:13 “For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.”
  • Isaiah 43:1-5a “But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life. Fear not: for I am with thee:…”
  • Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
  • Ephesians 2:4-10 “But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”
  • Romans 8:35-39 “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
  • Ephesians 3:17-20 “That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;  And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God. Now unto him, that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.”
  • I John 4:4,8b,9,17-19 “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. God is love. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. We love him, because he first loved us.”
  • …and there are so many more verses, demonstrations of God’s love for us. Think of the Cross.

Kintsukuroi

You ask, what is Kintsukuroi?

Gold filled pot

The Japanese art of Kintsugi, or Kintsukuroi, repairs broken pottery with seams of gold or silver. This repairs the brokenness in a way that makes the object even more beautiful than it was prior to being broken.

The Process:

  • This first healing spot is always near the base, which is the strongest piece left after being broken.
  • Just like the ancient Japanese ceramic repair tradition, we carefully stand the largest broken piece in sand. Piece by piece we mend the ceramic and allow to dry. This time consuming process is critical and necessary for proper binding.
  • After all the pieces are in place, we accentuate the cracks and smooth them out. The final step is to fill the seams with gold flaked paint. Just like the human race, no two are alike.

What a symbolism of what Christ sees in us. What Christ can do in us…if we are only, but willing.

  • The pottery doesn’t fight back. It doesn’t reject its maker or handler, it simply allows. Allows itself to go through the process of time, pain, and rebuilding.
  • The pottery is actively conforming, be handled, shaped, filled into its usability.

Like the broken or cracked pottery, it is when we surrender “our pieces” to God then He can take our pieces, center us, put us together (ever so gently), then fill us in with Himself (His Word, which is purest gold) to be more beautiful than we began. The end results are more glorious than we can imagine.

  • How humbly shocking this thought is: God loves us that much; loves us much that He, Himself, will handle us personally –every detail.

My friend, are you grasping onto pieces of your life that only God should be holding? Caring for? Healing? Rebuilding? Filling in with Himself (gold)?

  • Let Him have them.
  • However “your pieces” came to become part of you, those pieces don’t scare God. His love for you hasn’t changed. God cares about your soul…you!
  • Allowing God to have “your pieces” fulfills His ability to complete His masterpiece in you! No one else can fulfill it, only you can! That’s the beauty…Christ in You. He is the only true filler.
  • As a child of God, you have a God-mission that only you can complete. Will you let Him create? Will you complete your mission?
  • You can through Him! Don’t allow “pieces” to stop you.
  • Allow Him to fill you and come forth as gold.

Thank you Lord for loving us so much!

How Do Your Eyes See?

If Christ is not ashamed to indwell me: a flesh, self-centered, sinned-filled human, why am I afraid to be indwelled by Him, a sinless, sacrificial, all-knowing, all-powerful, Creator, spirit-God; who has an undescribable love desire for His creation that is unfathomable to our human minds to comprehend. It is so intimately in depth that He came, took our place on our cross, paid our sins penalty, and is now preparing a forever mansion for us in Heaven for whoever believeth on Him (John 3:16). All this, plus He has given us His Spirit as his child because of His intense love restoration for us…for all mankind.

It is a mind blower, yes. It is also rebuking. Rebuking because the rejection of God doesn’t come from God, it comes from man. A person enters the lake of fire for eternity because of their personal choice to reject God (His way of salvation), and what He has personally done out of love for them.

To those of who have accepted Christ as Saviour, which I include myself, I find this statement or question rebuking as His child. Why?

  • How many times in our life do we take back the reigns of life? Way to many times each of us wants to count! How this choice must break the heart of Jesus, after He has given and done so much for us. When He has indwelt us and we choose to reject Him, His leading, His rebuke, His warnings and live for self–while claiming Christ.
  • How it breaks my heart when I stop to think that I do this to my Saviour! It is pride. Selfishness. Arrogant. This thought stops me and makes me think twice, the next time I consider taking control of a situation, before I go ahead of God, before I make that decision before God says so…stop myself and ask, “Is this God talking/deciding/leading or me? Who’s sitting on the throne of my life right now–God or me?” If the answer isn’t God, be warned, don’t do, act, or react. It is not worth it.

Truly, this is the Son of God!

Truly, I am forever grateful to be called a child of God; forever to live this life for only One, God! There is nothing else worth it.

In Christ I am SHE {Saved. Hopeful. Empowered.}

Psalm 147:1-6

Thank you Lord for this encouragement, hope, strength, renewal, and empowerment. Thank you for being for us, with us, and indwelling us. Praise ye the LORD! PRAISE THE LORD! Praise, praise ye the LORD!

Church…we ARE Plan A there is no Plan B

3 Simple Reasons why Church is God’s Plan A.

Here are three simple reasons why “church” is GOD’S plan A and there is no plan B in God’s book. Why we must stop kicking and screaming and questioning God’s plan. It is He that is in change. It is HIS salvation gift to us. It is His death that paid the price…NOT OURS!

1. Church is plan A because God tells us NOT to forsake the gathering of ourselves together as believers. This is one of those hot buttons of the day and yes, I am going to talk about it! First, I’d like to say that I am truly sorry if you have been hurt, offended, or even abused in any form by the church as a whole. This is WRONG!! This is not pleasing, honoring, or glorifying to the Lord nor is it not His plan for His church.

But may I ask you a question? Have you ever bought something from a store, like meat, and got home to find out that it was bad? Did it stop you from buying meat for the rest of your life?

Have you ever had food poisoning from a restaurant? Did that stop you from ever eating out again? Most likely NOT!

SO…why is it when something “bad” at church happens we lump them all together and vow the mother of all vows that ALL Christians are hypocrites, ALL churches are filled with liars, cheaters, hypocrites, and rotten filthy sinners and we are never going back.

I want to stop right here. I understand, I know I talk with ladies who have physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually been abused by family members, unbelievers as well as believers. None are right. None should have happened (mine included), but we live in a sin-filled world and we have a choice. Yes, we have a choice even in the midst of our greatest pain, sorrow and trial. Will I use this situation to grow closer to my Heavenly Father or will I take it and grow bitter by the the day.

So often, I see “church” used as an excuse and see bitterness grow by the day and the choice to live in disobedience to God spiral from that one choice!

The bitterness will take you farther than you ever excepted to go.

Regardless of what enters of life, we are accountable before Christ. When we use people as an excuses to not obey Christ, we justify our own actions and guilt to make ourselves feel better.

I have another question to ask you. I am assuming you got over your food poisoning or got over that purchase of “bad meat.” If I opened your refrigerator door, I would find it full or at least part-way full and would come to find out that you have feasted on many meals “outside” of your home. You didn’t grow bitter at the “bad” meat. You didn’t call the store a hypocrite. You didn’t hold a grudge. You didn’t allow bitterness, people, or excuses from stopping you from shopping or eating, did you??!!

So why the double standard? Using people, excuses, our own bitterness and unforgiveness to NOT obey God is sin. If you are a child of God, you are part of plan A…you are not doing your part. You are needed, but you are choicing to missing out on God’s plan A.

Because Matthew 18 wasn’t practiced like it should have been when the offense happened, sadly, you are hurting yourself, the church, fellow believers, unbelievers, and you are hurting the cause of Christ…for what “bad meat?” That didn’t stop you before!

Reconcile that “bad meat” even if the other party doesn’t want too! Make it right before God on YOUR end!! Go and confront that offense! Seek and be ye reconciled. Forgive.

I speak from experience! I have “abuse” in my background. What kind I will not speak of at this time, but believe me when I tell you, I know! I know what I feels like, how it hurts, the anger, bitterness, the confusion, the spiral effects. But I also know the healing power of God in ones heart and life. I know the comfort and release of walking in obedience to the Father and it is worth it all! I would do it a thousand times over!

It is one of the hardest things you will ever do, but it is one of the most spirit-freeing (bondage releasing) God+you experience you will ever do, because when you walk in trust and obedience, God blesses! You NEVER go wrong walking in obedience to Christ….NEVER!

Hebrews 10:25

2. The very second you accepted Christ as your personal Savior, He gave you at least one spiritual gift, at least one. You may have more! Do you know your spiritual gift or gifts? Do you know God wants that gift or gifts to be used? Yeppers, you guessed it! For Him, for His Glory in His Church!

I hear the question already, can you use your God-given gift in other places? Sure! But the primary place is where He wants, within His Church. Again, this is not our plan or trying to make our plan work…this is God’s plan. We either obey and do or not!

I Peter 4:10-11

3. Church is Plan A because it is the only plan! We are to be proclaiming, mouthpieces, ambassadors, of what and who God is and what He has done for us to everyone soul we come in contact with. To fail to accomplish the great commission is to live in disobedience to Christ.

Matthew 28:18-20

  • The bottom line is this: God’s Word is clear. The choice is in your hands…your heart.
  • How will you choose to walk before the very God who gave you your eternal life?

Oh how comparing kills the soul.
